Decayed Flake soil is used/decayed flake that has been cooked and treated to remove harmful bacteria and pest. Perfect for Flower beetles and Rhino beetles that prefer more decayed substrate and perfect as an egg laying media for stag, rhino, and flower beetles. It's finer and stickier than our regular flake. Each bag contains about 1.2 gallon (volume) of flake soil.

80oz/2366ml Breeding Kit is excellent for medium to small beetles. Arrives packed in with 1in. of loose flake on the top, ready to go for your female beetle. Suitable for all Stag beetles that don't need log, medium to small Flower beetles, and small Rhino beetles.

*Suitable for stag beetle egg laying, but not recommended for stag beetle larvae rearing.

What is the Beetle Substrate?
1. It is a food for your beetle larvae, and other invertebrates  such as isopods and millipedes!

2. It is a bedding and housing for your young beetle eggs and larvae! Adult female lay eggs in here!

3. It is a bedding for your adult beetles!

Storage

If you don't plan on using newly purchased substrate within couple weeks, you must store them in a right ways:

Method 1: Freeze the substrate, and just unfreeze it a day before replacing old substrate. Make sure the substrate’s temperature is similar to your room temperature.

Method 2: Take substrate out of the bag, and pour it into a container that has small holes (large holes can attract pest infestation). Stir and mix it once in a while to aerate it to prevent molds.

Method 3: Take the substrate out to open air. Let it completely dry out, so pests and other organisms will leave the substrate. When ready to use, simply add water to the dried out substrate to be used again for your larvae.
